Current Photoclub in the Pub (Lewes) member, Ian Seccombe had a photograph featured on BBC Autumnwatch that aired on Friday 21st October.

About the photo:
Its a group of ‘cladonia fimbriata’ which is a type of lichen. The tubular fruiting body (popularly known as ‘pixie cups’) develops from minute leaf-like structures called squamules that grows on the soil among heather. The tubes are only a few millimetres high. The image was taken on Chailey Common on 21st September and used on the BBC Autumnwatch programme broadcast on Friday.

Lots more fungi and at least one other cladonia (the powderhorn) from Chailey Common on Ian’s flickr page here.

Chris Packham said the image was ‘stunning’!

Well done Ian, the image is truly stunning.
