Street Photography Event in Brighton (Sat 28 Jan 2012)
Posted on: Tue January 10, 2012
I’ve decided to run a Street Photography event in Brighton on Saturday 28th January 2012.
The event starts at 10am for breakfast at Buddies restaurant on the seafront. They do one of the biggest cooked breakfasts I have ever seen!! I’m sure lighter options are available too.
We will start here and discuss how to approach street photography. Although I’ll be the first to admit that street photography is probably not my strongest genre, I do have some pretty good tips that I have picked up along the way that I’m hoping to put in to practice myself and I’m sure will help you too. Also I can help anyone wanting technical advice, which is definitely an important part of street photography – you may want to think about manual focusing and possibly discuss different light metering modes and maybe shooting in aperture priority or even manual.
Everyone will receive an information sheet that will have some helpful advice, both creative and technical. It will also include your rights as a photographer and what to do should you encounter any issues with the police or security guards.
At around 11.00am we will head out to start shooting the street!
It will be a better idea to split up in to very small groups as shooting people on the street in a large pack is just not going to work. I suggest groups of 1, 2 or 3 people, but these groups can be relatively close together, possibly just a few hundred yards.
I will be on hand at all times, I might not be in your group but I will always be available on my mobile for advice.
We will all meet up at the pub at 3.00pm to discuss the day’s shooting and if anyone wants to bring a laptop, you are free to show off your handy work whilst enjoying a pint or white wine spritzer!
You will be able to book your place on this event via the Photography Courses section very soon. Please feel free to let me know your interest beforehand.
